SAR sensors can be either mounted on spacecrafts or placed on airplanes. One of the major applications of the SAR technology is represented by the SAR interferometry (InSAR) technique that exploits, in its basic form, the phase difference of (at least) two complex-valued SAR images (acquired from different orbital positions and at different times) to measure several quantities, such as topography, deformation, etc. A further improvement was realized with the advent of Differential SAR Interferometric (DInSAR) techniques. DInSAR methodologies allow to simulate the topography phase screen and to isolate the contribution due to the deformation of the scene occurred between the two flights of the radar sensor over the illuminated areas.
