A Study of Selected Commercial Banks in Nigeria This study investigated the impact of staff training and development on organizational productivity using selected commercial banks in Nigeria as a reference study. The quarrel of this study is that workers in the banking sector are not properly trained to key into the professionalism area of the banking system. Even when they are trained, they cannot easily cope due to the poor training system used. The main aim of this study is to determine the impact of skill acquisition on organizational productivity. Ordinary least square (OLS) was employed and data were analyzed using regression table and correlation coefficient. T-test statistics was utilized to test the formulated hypotheses at 5% (per cent) level of significance. Findings revealed that there is a positive relationship between skill acquisition and organizational productivity. We therefore, conclude that the processes involved in training and development are not duly followed and this has affected the productivity of commercial banks in Nigeria.
