In diesem Jahr würde er seinen 101. Geburtstag feiern. Die Grafikdesigner von Our Polite Society haben ausgehend von seinen bildnerischen Werken eine Schrift mit dem Titel Constant Change entwickelt. Sie umfasst sechs Schnitte mit jeweils 26 Buchstaben des Alphabets. Rund 100 Werke aus der Sammlung von Constant bilden die Grundlage für die typografischen Entwürfe, die sich spielerisch durch das Alphabet bewegen. Die Publikation zeigt einen zeitgemäßen Zugang zu bildkünstlerisch-historischen Arbeiten mit den Mitteln der Typografie, die ihre Quellen offenlegt. Constant Change wird von einem Text von Paul Gangloff begleitet. Die Publikation entsteht mit Unterstützung der Fondation Constant. Our Polite Society ist ein Studio für Grafikdesign, Typedesign und typografische Forschung mit Sitz in Amsterdam und Stockholm. Es wurde 2008 von Matthias Kreutzer und Jens Schildt gegründet. Paul Gangloff, 1982 im französischen Altkirch geboren, ist als Grafikdesigner in Amsterdam tätig. Er arbeitet im Auftrag von Künstler*innen, Autor*innen, Freund*innen und Institutionen, führt aber auch eigenständig Forschung und Workshops durch, schreibt, verantwortet Ausstellungen und Publikationen. ?? This year he would have celebrated his 101st birthday. The graphic designers at Our Polite Society have used his artistic works as a basis for creating a typeface called Constant Change. It includes six cuts, each containing the twenty-six letters of the alphabet. Moving playfully through the alphabet, the typographic designs draw on some 100 works from Constant?s collection. The publication makes use of the tools of typography in a contemporary approach to historical works of visual art, while revealing the sources that inform the designs. Constant Change is accompanied by a text by Paul Gangloff. The publication is supported by Fondation Constant. Our Polite Society is a studio for graphic design, type design and typographic research based in Amsterdam and Stockholm, founded in 2008 by Matthias Kreutzer and Jens Schildt. Paul Gangloff, born 1982 in Altkirch (France), is a graphic designer based in Amsterdam.
